Tirslaugtrøa Apiary

Tirslaugtrøa Bigård is located at Melhus in Trøndelag and is run by Magne Roar Haugen and Edle Keiserås. They are small-scale producers who have been beekeeping for 28 years, and aim to deliver quality honey to satisfied customers. The beehives are in the immediate area at home and at Tiller by Nidelva. In late summer, the bees are moved on "autumn holiday" to Åstfjorden in Hitra municipality to collect heather honey. They specialize in black honey. This means that the bees collect nectar for honey from a specific species/variety and it is harvested after each flowering period. A bit more work, but rewarding and interesting. Weather and flowering conditions mean that the selection of black honey will vary from year to year. They mainly offer dandelion honey, wild berry honey, wild raspberry honey, clover honey and heather honey.
