Enjoy nature! Explore the area; from the famous salmon river Gaula down in the valley, all the way up to Forollhogna, where the reindeer roam.

Midtre Gauldal is the perfect area for all hikers, young and old, for either peaceful walkabouts or intense training. Olympic gold medalist Marit Bjørgen grew up here, and has walked many of these trails.

There are countless ways to explore Midtre Gauldal: from the exhilarating rapids of narrow rivers (bring your kayak) to cycle tours through the beautiful mountain valleys where the cattle and sheep graze on rich mountain grass. Midtre Gauldal has an abundance of traditional farming and a well developed food culture, visit some of the producers by taking a roundtrip tour.

You can also take a piece of our food culture home to share, two artisan shops are well stocked and delighted to help. Gaula Natursenter, and Hognabrygg, are continually stocked with new and exciting local products, from handmade cured meats to fresh local beers.

Midtre Gauldal offers many unique overnighting opportunities; spend the night up in the trees, find peace of mind at Gammeltunet, or take a stroll down to the river Gaula before calling it a day at Storstuu Winsnes, to highlight a few.

Welcome!
